The Ultimate Cinco De Mayo Margaritas
It’s time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo,
and that means serious margaritas. I’ve got two margarita recipes for
you today–one is for making fast and easy margaritas for a crowd, and
the other is for true tequila connoisseurs. First up:
Fast and Easy Margaritas
- 3 parts Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix (this takes
care of the Cointreau and lemon/lime juice flavors)
- 1 part Jose Cuervo Tequila
Yep, that’s pretty much all there is
to it. Mix it as weak or as strong as you want, pour it into glasses
on the rocks, and you’re good to go. To make it a little more festive,
feel free to rim the glass with salt. I know–it’s not super-authentic
or even all that impressive. But for a last-minute bash, using
pre-made margarita mix is the only way to go. Trust me, your guests
won’t be complaining (and the Cuervo brand margarita mix is really
quite tasty). If they do complain, foist another margarita on
them–clearly they need another!
Next up is a margarita recipe for
true tequila fans!
The Ultimate Margarita
- 1 part Gran Patron Tequila
- 2 parts Patron Citronge (this is authentic
Mexican orange liquor; you can substitute plain old Cointreau for a
cheaper but less cool version)
- Juice of one lime wedge
- Top with a splash of Gran Marnier
This one should be served on the
rocks, with a lime wedge. And definitely let your guests know that
this is a drink for sipping, not gulping. Patron tequila is known for
its smoothness, and at over $50 a bottle (at least!), it should be
savored.
Keep in mind that not everyone loves
margaritas (shocking, I know!), so feel free to have beer on hand
(Corona, Dos Equis, Bohemia) as well as sangria and even just plain
iced tea. Enjoy your Cinco de Mayo with these tasty margarita recipes!
