How Do I Find My UK
Bra Size?
Q: I've found some great lingerie sites
online and I'd love to invest in some sexy bras. The problem is that I don't
know how to calculate my UK bra size. Are UK bra sizes different from US sizes?
What do I need to know before buying?
A: Yes, your UK bra size will be different from your US size. Exactly how
different the sizes are will depend on whether you're on the smaller or larger
side of the cup scale. First off, your band size will stay the same. To find
your bra band size, measure just below your bustline (under the crease of your
breasts). Then, if the number is odd, add five. If it's even, add four. (Keep in
mind that European, Italian, French, and Australian sizes are all different from
this and each other.)
The cup size is where it gets tricky. To calculate your cup size, measure across
your breasts, and subtract the band measurement from this number. In the U.S.,
if you have a difference of 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches, you're a B. In the UK, if
you've got a size difference of 2 1/2 inches, you're a C. Basically, if you're
looking to find out your UK bra size, start the cup measurement scale (the
difference between the band and cup measurements) at 0 instead of 0.5.
Also, keep in mind that UK bra size labels are the same the U.S. The scale goes
from AA to JJ. If you come across a bra that has a cup size which doesn't
conform to the A-J standards, it's likely not made in the US or UK. You'll need
to refer to international bra sizing charts to ensure the perfect fit.
