Why
Measuring Bra Sizes Is Key to Your Look
Measuring bra sizes accurately may be more
important than you think. For many women, buying bras comes down to vanity.
Let's face it, when staring down the plastic barrels at the Victoria's Secret
Semi-Annual Clearance Sale, many of us would rather be caught browing the 34C
bin instead of the 36A. However, your undergarments are the basis of your look,
so it pays to wear the
right size bra.
First of all, it's a universal truth that wearing clothes that are a size too
small actually makes us look larger. Similarly, wearing a band size that is too
small leads to bulges, bumps, and dreaded rolls. This often gets translated to
your entire outfit, making your t-shirt or blouse seem lumpy and ill-fitting.
Measuring bra sizes and choosing the right cut can make a world of difference.
Your clothes will fit more smoothly, which also gives you a more streamlined,
slim look.
It's not just the bra's band size that makes a difference, either. The wrong cup
sizes can also make your breasts look flat or squished. While going down a cup
size can help you create cleavage, it can also make your bust look stuffed--even
painfully so. Similarly, the wrong cup size, large or small, offers no support.
This brings us to the final point. Measuring bra sizes correctly also has a more
subtle effect on your overall appearance. When you wear the wrong bra size, you
don't get the support you need. This can lead to slouching and slumping. As your
mother probably told you (countless times!), your posture really is
important. If you're slouching because your back isn't supported, you'll seem
not just shorter, but heavier. Also, if you're shirking your shoulders to
compensate for too-short straps, you'll come off as strained and uncomfortable.
So, find the bra size for you and start looking your best!
