Make Sangria for Your Next Party

Our classic sangria recipe is refreshing and delicious. If you're ready to add some unexpected spice to your next party, why not make sangria?  Perfect from late spring all the way into early fall, sangria is always a pleasant surprise for guests. For the uninitiated, sangria is, in essence, wine infused with delicious fruit flavors. Beyond being just plain tasty, sangria walks the perfect line between being sophisticated and adding a casual vibe to a gathering.

Serve it in plastic cups for a BBQ or crystal for a dinner party, it doesn't matter.  When you make sangria, you invite guests to enjoy themselves.  Our simple sangria recipe is totally customizable--feel free to add your own touches--and it allows you to stretch your budget for larger parties. Best of all, it's amazingly easy to make sangria, but everyone at your party will be completely impressed.  Ready to start?

Fabulously Simple Sangria Recipe:

Make this in a large punch bowl or pot. You can ladle it into glasses or pour it into a few separate carafes for stylish and easy serving.

You'll need:

  • 1 Bottle of your favorite, fruity red (we like zinfandel, but merlot, shiraz, and cabernet are all great, too)
  • 1 Orange, cut into wedges or slices
  • 1 Lemon, cut into wedges or slices
  • 1 Lime, cut into wedges or slices
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar (add more to taste as you go)
  • 1 Shot of Brandy (or 2, depending on how strong you want it)
  • 1 Can of Ginger Ale (or club soda); for a lower alcohol content level, up it to 2 cans and dilute as necessary
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Pour the wine into your mixing bowl.
  2. Squeeze the juice from the orange, lemon, and lime wedges into the wine.
  3. Drop the fruit segments into the bowl; try to fish out any seeds that fall in.
  4. Dump in the sugar and brandy; stir.
  5. When you're ready to serve, mix in the ginger ale and add the ice.
  6. You're done! Really, that's all there is to it!

Serves four to six (one serving each).
