Make Incredibly Cute
Earrings in Less Than 10 Minutes
Ready to make earrings that are individual,
darling, and totally cheap? These simple drop earrings are easy and
elegant, and a great way for beginners to start making jewelry. Once
you've mastered the basic techniques here, you can lengthen them, change them,
make them in all different colors--whatever you want!
Elegant Drop Earrings for Beginners:
Supplies:
- 2 Ear wires (the part that goes through the
ear)
- 2 Head pins
- 4-6 Beads
- Round-nose pliers
Directions:
1. Put 2-3 beads on one of the head pins.
2. With the pliers, bend the part of the
head pin that's left at the top of the topmost bead into a 90 angle.
3. Grasp the farthest end of this wire
with your round-nose pliers, and wrap the wire around the nose of the pliers,
forming a loop at the top. The loop should almost close--leave a small
gap, though.
(Hint: This is the most challenging
part for beginners. You may need to practice making the loop a number of
times to get it exactly right. The upside? Perfect technique isn't a
requirement for cute earrings. Most people will never know if your loop is
slightly lopsided!)
4. Insert an earwire in the gap, and then
use the pliers to fully close the loop of the head pin.
Repeat for the other earring, and you're done!
